Quiet July 4th Weekend...

The last thing we want on a holiday weekend is some kind of tropical threat.  That is not a problem as the Tropics appear to be entering a stretch of little activity the next 2-3 weeks.  That is typical for July with the ramp up in activity coming in August & September.  Today, only Bonnie is churning in the eastern pacific with the short lived Colin long gone.

Tropical Storm Bonnie is getting better organized and will likely become a Cat. 1 hurricane, but she's in the Pacific.  the weak wave moving over the Caribbean is fighting wind shear and that's what killed Colin.

In fact, if you went to the Carolina beaches today, it was sunny and nice.  The Gulf is as quiet as it gets with the best weather in the nation behind a cold front over the Great Lakes to the Northeast.

It was a warm day, but look at the dew points in the 40s & 50s.  That's dry, really good feeling air.

It's basic summertime across the Southeast with high heat & humidity along with spotty storms.

If you think that's gonna change before mid September (wishful thinking) or early October, then it tells me this is your first summer down south.   Just like the long, brutal winters up north, our summers go on forever.   The phrase "go jump in the lake" makes sense here, except even the lakes are too warm!  Enjoy the 4th and remember why we celebrate it...independence, freedom.  Stay tuned!
