David Says Goodbye With Freeze Warnings...

When I departed FOX 8 in March of 2016, I knew it was my time to go.  I was 68 and had 2 health scares.  Tonight at 10 PM David Bernard says goodbye at a much younger age of 53.  But David realized after a major health scare 2 years ago, life in broadcasting is just too stressful.  Tonight at 10 PM, FOX 8 will say goodbye to David and welcome to Bruce Katz as their next Chief meteorologist.  Fittingly, David goes out with a bang as freeze warnings are issued for the North Shore.

What should help keep temps. up on the South Shore will be the northerly winds coming off Lake P.

If we can shake the clouds for Friday, Highs might actually creep to near 60, still well below the normal/average of 71.

I think the reason NWS went with a hard freeze warning is the very low dew points over the North Shore.  Again, the wild cards will be the returning cloud cover and will the winds stay up?

The wide picture still has the upper flow coming out of Canada with an expanding snow cover over the northern states.  Until the upper trough lifts out, we'll stay chilly through this weekend.  Worse yet, models show a cold rain shield spreading across SE LA/MS on Saturday.

If you live north of Lake P., including the Mississippi Gulf coast, you'll need full precautions as mid 20s will be common.  South of the Lake, lows should stop in the mid to upper 30s at worse.  I have not done anything with my plants.  Good luck to David Bernard on his new career and new life.  Check with FOX 8 tonight as they salute David.   Stay tuned!
