Severe Threat Coming Between 3-5 PM, Especially North Shore...

this is a special midday update regarding the possible severe weather coming later this afternoon.  There remains a Tornado Watch for the North Shore until 1 pm with a new watch likely coming for the South Shore soon.  SPC just elevated the severe risk to level 4 (moderate) from this morning's level 3 (enhanced).  Let me show you the new graphic.

Timing will be important as it appears a cold front is accelerating to our west.   The front has cleared Houston where dewpoints have dropped into the 40s.  We're in the warm air sector and that is where the severe danger is.

Numerous storms are firing off ahead of the front and this afternoon will require all of us to pay attention until the front blows through.

Zack Fradella had a graphic that clearly defined the danger time.

So you still have time to run some errands before the severe threat arrives.  After 1 PM to the west and 3 PM to our east, be ready to go to your safe room if warnings are issued.  Have your phone and that FOX 8 Weather App handy.  Next update after 4 PM.  Stay tuned!
