Freeze Warnings Both Sides Of Lake Pontchartrain, Precautions Needed

Hard to believe, that after having such warm weather for so long, Monday morning will see a moderate freeze across the North Shore & a light freeze away from Lake P. south.  That means you'll need to protect any tender plants.  I'm going to wait until around 8 PM to see what the winds & temps are doing before I bring anything into my back shed.

It's hard to ignore the computer numbers, but IF the winds stay up, areas near the Lake South Shore should stay mid to upper 30s.  It appears any cloud cover will leave us, so only the winds will save us.

It appears to me that the center of the surface high will drift far enough to our north to keep some kind of wind blowing.  The top graphic is the current map followed by the forecast for Monday morning.

To play it safe, I'd cover up or bring what you can inside.  After tonight, we're back on the warming trend for the rest of the week.

More rain is heading into the West Coast, but we'll stay dry until later this week.

The rains have stopped up north & the snow cover is limited.  The crest on the Mississippi is approaching us and will slowly fall into April.

Finally, there was a article last week saying NHC will go to a 7 day cone for this season.  I have mixed feelings since we all know so much can happen during those last 5 days.  Now it will be 7 days.  One thing that doesn't change is ANXIETY.

Today's paper had a story about anxiety in Seniors.   I know after living here for 45 hurricane seasons, we ALL get anxiety.  I don't see the point in stretching out that feeling another 2 days.  For emergency managers it should help.  The rest of us?  Stay tuned!
