Mississippi River Crest Coming, Need Rain Here

As I mentioned yesterday, the Gulf South has not received any soaking rain lately allowing many fires to spring up.  MSY is over 4" below average/normal since January.  However, the level of the Mississippi River here is determined by what falls up north and they have had a lot of rain with the recent storms.  Couple that with snow melt, and you have a river level that might reach 13 feet in 2 weeks.

That high water can been seen on today's satellite view with the cut (Mardi Gras cut) sending muddy river water into Breton Sound.

Aside from that, there is nothing to talk about except the same old same old.  Another storm into California, a western upper trough, Winter-like across the north, Springtime over the South.

For all you cold air geeks, I feel your pain!
