I've just returned from a quick 3 night trip to the Alabama beaches(Perido) & here are some observations. If you are taking a trip over there during the heart of the "beach season" (May-September) , be prepared for road delays on the trip home. My suggestion is, DON'T come back on a Sunday. Here we're in mid April & my usual 2 1/2 hour trip took over 5 hours. Why? Well, there were 2 wrecks, but more importantly the states of Alabama & Mississippi have chosen to do road repair/resurfacing in the warmer months when traffic volume is heaviest. Hey, you're gonna go. Just know the trip home might be a longer, more stressful drive.
Weather-wise, we have a terrific couple of days coming with lots of sun, low humidity & comfy warm temps. The upper disturbances are far north & east so we have several days to dry out from Saturday's heavy rainfall.
As you can see on the temperature map, it's still Winter-like up north around the upper low.
With the cold front well to our south & east, much drier air (dew points in 30s & 40s) are flowing in and should make night comfy cool through Tuesday.
As the high clouds leave & winds decrease over night, look for some 40s North Shore & 50s south.
Another front will try to reach us later this week. Hopefully, it won't stall over us as the big PGA golf tourney (Zurich Classic) starts here on Thursday. Glad to be back. Stayed tuned!
