A Marvelous Mardi Gras Weatherwise, Distant Memory For Me

It was a chilly start, but once the sun came out, wow what a day!  Hard to believe my last parade was 8 years ago when I was honored to be the Grand Marshal of Argus just before I retired.  It was sunny and cold that day too that I was able to share it with my out of town family. (Sarah, Rob, Emily, Justin)

The bottom picture was from the Argus Ball where I looked like the "Weathered Man"!  It's part of the reason I retired.  I grew old with my audience, but I didn't want them to see me "get old".

I found these two pics of me in my YOUTH!  The Ch. 8 anchor team in the early 80s was Ron Swoboda on sports, me, Lynn Gansar & Richard Anderson.  The bottom pic was from All My Children on ABC where I brought a telephone to Erica Kane (Susan Lucci).  My only network part!   Ahh. to be young again!  In fact, several of my long time weather colleagues are retiring this year.

Tom Skilling is retiring Feb. 28th after 45 years with WGN-TV in Chicago.   And out west in Denver...

That's Mike Nelson, who has been the voice of the Boulder Bolder 5K race for 20+ years.  I've known Mike since he was in St. Louis before becoming the Weather Guru for 30 years in Denver.  Locally, Margaret Orr has told me that she's hanging up her shoes later this year.  My take?  Retirement is great guys as I highly recommend it!  What the heck, not much to talk about weather wise so I won't.

Our next rain threat is along the West coast and we should see several dry days with a gradual warm up.  It'll get cold again for next weekend, but not enough to see snow.  Want to see snow?

The first real snow (4-6") hit NYC today with heavier amounts around.  That's another long time friend, Mike Seidel on The Weather Channel.  Mike, come join us, you've had a great ride too.  Happy Mardi Gras Gang!  Stay tuned!
