Bottom line, the morning hours should have no issues. The main action will happen between 2-8 PM with the greater threats staying north & east of metro NOLA.
As Nicondra showed us at 4 PM, there will be several SW-NE bands of 2-3" totals, but it appears most of us will be in the one inch or less amounts. I still feel this event will be more a strong wind threat than a heavy rain issue. Let's review what will trigger all of this. The main upper low is over Arizona.
Winter-like air is pouring out of Canada colliding with warm, humid air surging out of the Gulf. Severe T-Storm Watches are up for areas from Texas into Kansas. We are likely to see watches issued for us Friday PM.
70+ dew points are showing up over south Texas and that, combined with the warm air (80+) , will be the recipe for widespread strong storms.
A cold front will sweep through after midnight on Friday making for a good feel air weekend, if you're dressed for it. Don't put those sweaters and jackets away just yet as we have many more cold fronts coming. Remember, it's PAY ATTENTION Friday. Your FOX 8 Weather App will help keep you alerted & safe. Stay tuned!
