WPC has outlined the greatest heavy rain threat (level 3 moderate) is centered to our north & east. That doesn't mean we won't see any problems, but unless training develops, the pumps should be able to keep up. My concern remains the severe threat as we are in the warm air sector with dew points above 70 with upper disturbances still to come.
My last post suggested the upper energy would come in waves as I've highlighted with the yellow dash lines.
Our severe threat comes during the next several hours with a break coming after midnight. There might be another line of briefly heavy showers as the front arrives around daybreak on Saturday. Let's pay attention on the weather for the next several hours and don't plan traveling around the city if you don't have to. At 4 PM, all the flood issues are farther to our north.
There has been a lot of lightning with these storms along with gusty winds above 25 mph.
Our weather will get better once the cold front sweeps through. You'll need sweaters and jackets again as the brisk northerly winds will make it feel colder. Don't forget the time change is coming tomorrow night. Stay tuned!
