Another Legend Is Gone, Caribbean Storm Next Weekend, Warm, Dry End To October...

Most of you have heard about the passing of long time Ch. 4 morning anchor Eric Paulsen.  Eric arrived as the weekend anchor at WWL-TV in 1977, one year before me. While I stayed for 38 years at Ch. 8 retiring due to several health issues, Eric was with Ch. 4 for 47 years making him the longest tenured anchor at one station in our city.  Margaret Orr had 45 years with Ch. 6 and Nash Roberts had 49 years, but it was with 3 different stations. I met Eric many times at various charity functions, but the one I think he enjoyed the most was being the MC for decades at the St. Michael's Chef Soiree.  Eric always had that "twinkle" in his eyes that made him special on and off the air.  New Orleans is better off for having him in our lives. RIP big fella.

Last week's models hinted at development in the Caribbean for this week.  They (Canadian/GFS) are still trying to form something for next weekend, but farther down over the southern Caribbean.

As usual, there is nothing there yet, but models are predicting development. Here's the GFS solutions beginning with next Sunday.  It tries to form a low south of Haiti/DR.

The middle view is valid for Tuesday (11-5) noon with the bottom valid for Thursday (11-7). As you can see, the model is having trouble forming a real center.  Whatever, it's east of Florida and not in the Gulf.  We're still waiting on our next cold front and some rain chances. that is not likely to happen this coming week.  when in drought, leave it out.

Until the upper pattern changes, cold air cannot penetrate into the Southeast.

So expect our above normal/average weather to continue into November with no rain unless we get a front near us.  I don't see that happening this week.  Finally, watching the Saints is like watching Michigan football this year.  No offense, no quarterback.  Did I see Jameis Winston lead Cleveland to a win over the Ravens?   Hummm?!!! Stay tuned!~
