Just the other day, most of SE LA/MS got drenched with 2-4" of rain, and some spots got 4-8". The official site for NOLA (MSY) had received nearly 3" for the first 8 days of May, 1.50" above normal/average. Well, the heavens have opened up again with another 2-3" of rain prompting NWS to issue a Flash Flood Warning for parts of the South Shore. If you can, get off the roads until after 6 pm.
Today's storms are caused by a complex pattern of a slow-moving upper low in NW LA and several weak surface lows near us and to our south.
Notice the lower/drier air dew points back over Texas. Hopefully, some of that will rotate over us making Saturday less wet.
Yikes, now a tornado warning?!!! FOX 8 has wall-to-wall coverage. Turn them on. Stay tuned!
