A strong upper disturbance over the Central Plains will drag a frontal boundary through us this weekend. It could bring us some severe storms later this PM to the North Shore and down to the South Shore later tonight. SPC has a widespread area of level 2 & 3 severe risk for today & tonight. Let's begin with the what (SPC risk area) followed by the why (Upper flow.)
The gold circle shows you the split in the upper flow over the southern states. That splitting enhances upward lift, hence look at the widespread T-Storms. All kinds of Severe T-Storm watches & warnings are up.
The cooler & drier air behind this front will make for a great feeling Sunday. But we have to get through some storms tonight & again Saturday morning.
So I see the South Shore mostly dry this afternoon with the greater risk farther to the north.
My yard could use a good soaking. Let's hope any severe storms stay well to our north. Enjoy your weekend and stay tuned!
I don't know what you have going on, Bob, but I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for whatever it is that you're suffering
