Northern Gulf Disturbance Unlikely, Higher Rain Chances Coming

NHC is highlighting two areas for possible tropical development, one of them being across the northeastern Gulf.  Before you pop your Xanax & rush out to get milk & bread, let me tell you no computer model develops anything except way out in the Atlantic.  The Gulf system will bring us increased rain chances, but mainly for coastal locations.

I've mentioned before that any system out in the Atlantic will not be our concern.  IF we see development, it will be in the western Caribbean or southern Gulf.  I've circled those areas to watch along with the southern Caribbean. We begin with the northeastern Gulf.

Yeah, there are several boundaries there, but I can't find any signs of a rotation.  NHC gives it only a 10% chance to develop.  The swirl is still down over the southern Gulf & another in the Caribbean. There are no storms with the Gulf swirl, but the Caribbean is more active.

It appears there is a tropical wave moving westward with the hints of rotation.  However, it will run into central America and not bother us.  Soooo, the next question becomes...where's our next cold front?

Alas, with such an upper pattern with a ridge over most of the lower 48, no cold fronts are in sight until after Oct. 10th at the soonest.

When it's still in the 80s in the Dakotas, you know little relief is coming anytime soon.  It must get cold up north first. A few showers have popped up, but most of us are staying dry.

You can see the higher rain chances are mainly south of NOLA.

The less hot temperatures the next 3 days will be to more clouds & higher rain chances.  Brisk east winds will create some higher tides that will affect those outside the levee protection system.  Otherwise, we're staying summer-like.  Don't forget my new podcast at bobbreck.com

My next guest will be Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel coming up on Wednesday.  A future guest will be Bruce Katz, Chief Meteorologist with FOX 8 who just signed a new 3 year contract yesterday.  Congrats Brucie!.  Stay tuned!
