The official end to the 2025 Hurricane season happens at midnight with the total named storms (13) slightly under the 30 year average. THE ACE number was slightly above normal due to the 4 major hurricanes. Only one (Melissa) of the four crossed land areas. Most storms made the curve to the north away from the East Coast due to the center of the Atlantic Ridge staying out near the Azores instead of being near Bermuda. Only Tropical Storm Chantal crossed the U.S. Coastline.
I don't really care why "LA. dodges hurricanes", it was more about time as we have seen way too many strong hurricanes slam into Louisiana in the past few years. Oh the "experts" will be out in less than 5 months with their predictions for 2026, but remember they can't predict LOCATIONS ahead of time. Total numbers aren't very helpful without knowing where the locations are. Let's relax during the colder months until next June when we begin to feel nervous all over again. speaking of the cold, look at these morning lows.
The below zero line dipped into Nebraska with Montana 15-20 below and we're still in November!!!
A look at the upper flow shows why to cold air keeps pouring out of Canada.
Now if we can get an upper low ride down over the SW flow across the Gulf, can you say Southern Snowstorm?!!! We do have a weak low down over the Gulf that's doing nothing.
It's really cold behind this front, but with the upper flow out of the SW, that'll keep the coldest air well to our north. Still it'll be a week for the heavy coats.
I was hoping to fly back on Monday to warmer air and 60s will feel better than the 40s. After 8 days in western Kentucky, I'm ready to come home. At least I'm not coming home to this!
These pictures are from my youngest sister (Carol) in Whiting, Indiana. She's 60+ and still shoveling snow? C'mon Carol, you're not a kid anymore! (though she still looks it!) Since I will be flying tomorrow, I will not post. Tuesday & Wednesday are moving days, but I'll try to get out a post to show you where I'm going. I'm a little nervous, but I have 2 women (Beth & Valarie) who will set up my apartment so I feel at home and comfortable. The views are awesome! Stay tuned!
