The second named storm of 2026 turned out to be quite a challenge for forecasters as it was never allowed to become a strong, system due to extreme NE shear. Her track from the get go was erratic with NHC doing there best to smooth out all the wobbles & meandering, Check the track of Bertha as it moved from the eastern Gulf to the Louisiana.
The strong NE upper shear blew the main T-Storm clusters far to the SW leaving the center of Bertha exposed with little weather around her.
The upper air conditions on the Water Vapor views show all the dry air around Bertha.
So as Bertha move into Texas today, our weather will return to typical summertime heat.
