Super Typhoon Brushing Guam, Pop Up Storms Here, Tropics Remain Dead.

The biggest news on the Planet is super Typhoon Bavi, whose winds have increased to 180 MPH.  He has classic satellite structure of a Category 5 Hurricane.  Fortunately, it appears he will only brush Guam, but there are other Mariana Islands that won't be so lucky.

This is the only active named system in the World as the EPAC and Atlantic Basins are shut down.

It's not surprising that the Atlantic Basin is quiet in this El Nino summer.  That was expected.  But the lack of activity in the EPAC region was not anticipated.  Unless something changes in the Atlantic Basin, we could see us go zero for July in terms of named storms.  That would be nice since the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo is less than 3 weeks away.

I will be calling someone's name as the winner of the $10,000 grand prize and all you have to do is purchase a registration packet ($50) to enter.  You don't have to fish or even come down to Grand Isle to win.  Just go to tarponrodeo.org and sign up.  After last week's Heat dome is gone, our daily T-Storms are back.

The North Shore is getting hammered while a few storms have perked up south of Lake P.  Since they are slow movers, some neighborhoods are getting 1-2" of rainfall.  Expected more of the same for the next several days.

Finally, those of you who are subscribers to my podcast will be getting renewal notices. Hopefully, most of you believe the $2/month is worth it.

When our next tropical threat comes, I'll be doing daily, perhaps multiple podcasts in an effort to give you enough information, and my opinions based on 50 years of experience, so you can make the correct decision to stay or leave.  Go to bobbreck.com and join us.  I'll probably will be fishing Monday & Tuesday so my next post might not be until Wednesday.  Stay tuned!
