In my last post I mentioned several models were indicating a strong storm would develop off the Carolina coasts, but NHC wasn't highlighting any area for possible tropical development. Today, NHC started to highlight an area for "sub-tropical" development during the next 2-3 days. Sub-Tropical development because the low will start out as an upper cold core low. It may acquire some tropical features (warm core) as it will be over the warmer Gulf Stream.
Even IF this would develop into Josephine, it will NOT be a Gulf storm. What it will do is keep bringing cooler, drier air over all of the deep South. You can see that colder air over the Gulf waters on satellite views.
There is no other front coming this week, so it should be a beautiful great feeling weather for us.
October usually gives us some great weather and this week will be near perfect. The other big weather story is Typhoon Champi battering Guam yesterday.
Hopefully our big airbase didn't suffer too much damage? Get outside and enjoy this week Gang. Stay tuned!
