Muggies coming Back, Sunday Showers With a Rumble of Thunder?

After our Arctic blast last month, the first week of this month has been very mild/above normal.  We have enjoyed several days of all day sunshine & temps in the 70s giving us a Springtime feel to the air.  But alas, that won't last as south winds are bringing back low level moisture/humidity and that muggy feel to the air.  A weak front is coming that might trigger some showers during the day on Sunday. You can see the clouds forming just to our west.

Note how the dew points are back to 60+ from Houston to Shreveport. A weak front will slowly slide across us tomorrow.  It is cooler, but not frigid behind it.

The main upper flow across the country is west to east resulting in most locations being above freezing.  It is seasonally cold across the northern states, but there is no super cold anywhere.

The second week of January will not be as pretty as the first, but considering what we usually get at this time of the year, it's not terrible.

Now on to the West Coast...

The Krewe of storms remains lined up over the Pacific taking aim at California.  This is much needed moisture, however, it is causing much misery with mud slides to storm surges.  This pattern should last for another 3-5 days.  However, look what Hannah Gard showed us for next weekend.

That would bring us much colder air if the model is correct requiring us to bring out the coats & sweaters again.  Our current warm spell has awakened some critters that should be in Winter hibernation.

My fishing Captain (Hylton Petit) lives by a pond on the golf course in Destrehan.  He's seen Allie  several times before, but the recent cold forced him to hide.  The current warm spell must make him think Spring is coming?  I can assure Allie we are not done with cold/freezing weather.  Note, the 2 turtles appear to have little fear of Allie.   I'm saying...see ya later, alli-gator!  Stay tuned!
