Looking at the forecast guidance tonight tells me we will not have to worry about any tropical activity in the Gulf coming our way for the next 5-7 days or longer. By then we're in October, a month where MOST hurricane activity happens in the Caribbean & in the Atlantic EAST of Florida. History tells us Louisiana has seen a couple of strong Hurricanes early in October, but they have been VERY INFREQUENT. November has seen NO hurricane cross the Louisiana coastline. Sooooooooo, the "Fat Lady" hasn't sung yet , but she's getting closer to the stage. After a couple of strong cold fronts next month, we'll be able to say..."turn out the Lights"... on this hurricane season.
Tonight TD #13 is not developing as it edges closer to the Mexican coast. It is running out of time to make it Lorenzo. The front is still on track for late Thursday night into early on Friday. Less humid air will filter in making the weekend feel much more comfortable despite warm to hot temperatures. You'll notice the difference more at night. Enjoy!

Bob, refresh my memory. Wasn't Georges in 1998 in October? It made that last minute turn.
I was elated to read that we wouldn't have any tropical concerns for at least 5 to 7 days or longer in your recent blog. As of tonight's weather casts, there may be tropical development in the Gulf by Wed. or Thursday of next week thereby increasing our shower chances. What are your thoughts on this? Is it true?
I'm so glad that the Fat Lady is approaching the stage! I can't wait until she is singing loud and clear. What are your thoughts on Karen heading west toward us? I guess what concerns me is that the computer models keep curving it west in the 4 and 5 day period.
