Name those Storms...

I will give credit to all those "hurricane predictors" who said this would be an active season with 15-17 named storms. I have no doubts that those numbers will be reached, however, the folly of early season forecasts remains...they can't tell us LOCATION. It has been a very quiet season regarding landfalling U.S. named storms...in fact, most of the storms this year have been marginal storms at best. Take the latest TD...#13. if it wasn't for satellite pictures, we wouldn't even know it was there, Think back years ago before satellites. How many minor storms never were discovered? Just a thought.

Right now we have NOTHING that appears to be a problem in the near term. Reading Dr. Jeff Masters blog regarding Karen...Yikes! he says it could recurve back and possibly affect an area anywhere from Cuba to Maine. Now tell me what good does that do except to scare folks for no reason at all! Doesn't he know the anxiety level down here? To speculate on a future possibility that has very little chance of happening is not what I do. Right now the Gulf is quiet and I don't see any problems for this coming week. Regarding Hurricane Georges back in 1998, he came ashore in Mississippi on the 29th of September. I repeat...our chances of seeing a major hurricane making landfall in Louisiana in October are slim and none. I continue to feel very good that we have dodged another tropical season, but the Fat Lady has not sung yet. She's climbing the stairs, but..." it's not over til it's over". (Yogi Berra)

You're right about Georges . It was the end of September!! Sounds good to me. We can relax a little and enjoy the weather.

Bob, I know you are a forecaster, not a fortune teller. Thanks for being the voice of reason that we all need.
Looks like those other guys are trying to be fortune tellers of gloom and doom. I can't wait for the fat lady to sing, now we have to decide on what song she's going to sing..hmmm Gotta start thinking of a tune. How about "Breathe"..just breathe some of this nice fall air..:) I think we have all been holding our breath.

When can we expect another cool/cold front? Worrying about something developing east of Florida!

Starting to hear of potential development for the Gulf. What's your thoughts?
