The Hurricane Hunters from Keesler AFB found a weak surface low just west of Fort Myers, but there are no strong winds around the center. Due to an upper level low over the surface low, development will be slow, if any during the next 2-3 days. Most computer models move it just to our east keeping us on the weaker side of this system by Saturday morning. If it doesn't develop, it could just move westward across the Gulf as a tropical wave bringing us a rainy & windy Saturday and Sunday. Since tides are already above normal, the National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Watch for the SE Louisiana & Coastal Mississippi coasts. I find no cause for great concern as long as the upper low stays over the surface low. Bottom line...our 7 day stretch of dry weather is about to end this weekend.
I'll have another update this evening.

I am so glad you are level headed. I moved to Denham Springs after Katrina and unfortunately the weather on the local channels is either alarming or not very informative. I check your blog daily to find out what's really going on. The projected areas shown in BR are mainly right into La I'll be checking in. Thanks again!!
