Well the storms erupted on schedule, but the intensity was somewhat greater than anticipated. Last Friday the Northshore got dumped with 5-8". Today it was the Southshore's turn, especially to our southwest where 5-7" fell. Metro new orleans received 2-4"+ in about 2 hours resulting in numerous street closings for a short time. The pumps quickly caught up and no major flooding was reported. That wasn't the case around Houma where water got into some homes.
The weekend looks much brighter with more sunshine and hotter temperatures. Shower chances will be only 20-30% or slightly less than a typical summer afternoon. Hope you enjoy the long weekend and stay safe.
