Fay has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression on the latest NHC advisory at 10 PM. The latest NHC forecast track keeps the heaviest rains north of SE Louisiana on Sunday and we could even see a good deal of sunshine. However, our VIPIR model (which has been the most accurate on Fay's movement so far) takes Fay across South Mississippi on Sunday and then loops her back over us on Monday. The NHC forecast stalls Fay north of Baton Rouge on Monday and then lifts her to the NE on Tuesday keeping all of the heavy rains to our north. IF VIPIR is correct, we could get into some heavy rains 2-4" over night on Sunday into early Monday. What we don't want is for the remains of Fay to stall over or near us. FOX 8 will stay on-air with hourly updates and I'll be back on-air Sunday morning beginning at 6 AM.
If you did some channel switching today, you clearly saw a difference between over hyping this storm versus the consistent, calm, ACCURATE forecasting from our FOX 8 weather team. We will continue to earn your trust.

ACCURATE forecasting? Can't count how many times you kept saying Fay is Florida's problem and will not turn west or go anywhere near Louisiana . .
