Fickle Fay Could Turn Fabulous...

As a weakened Fay drifts slowly back towards the warm waters of the Atlantic off Florida's east coast, she's likely to regain intensity and become a hurricane by late Wednesday or early on Thursday. As high pressure builds southward down the eastern seaboard ahead of Fay, her path will be blocked and she should begin drifting back towards the Florida coast making landfall again near St. Augustine around dark on Thursday. NHC (and our VIPIR model) then keeps her OVER LAND finally turning her to the north and away from us by late Sunday. Is there a chance she could go farther to the south (and back over Gulf Waters) and threaten us? Of course, but that chance appears VERY remote. Bottom line, in the short term Fay is Florida's problem. Long term, she may become a problem for Georgia too.

Things to watch...1) See how far north Fay goes before turning back to the west. the farther the better for us. 2) Watch her forward speed...IF it gets less than 5 MPH, she's likely to begin her westward move. Remember tropical systems can bring much needed rainfall to areas that need it. That's why I say Fay could turn fabulous for Georgia & the Carolinas IF she could go a little farther to the north.

Caveman,
We can all see you are trying to simply cover your butt.
1. "Blog should get interesting when the path of our new storm shifts more to the west! Hurricane is coming!"
Coming where? Georgia? It is not turning west to LA
So you were wrong, just admit it.

2. "Fay will go into the record books!"
Why? You didn't say why. Most of us interpret that to mean in strength. Making a far reaching statement like Fay will produce rain is not much of a prediction.
So wrong again. Or at the very least not much of a prediction.

3. "Fay may just be Katrina's twin sister!"
I don't even need to say anything here

So the way I see it you are 0 for 3

But I can also make one bold prediction as well. Caveman doesn't like Bob.

So I guess I am 1 for 1
