Time to Recover & Relax...

After speaking to one of the forecaster's at NHC, I feel fairly confident to say that soon to be Hurricane Ike will not come into the Gulf next week, but follow Hanna's track turning to the north and threatening the east coast. We'll know better in the next few days, but if you want to know why...check Dr. Master's discussion on Weather Underground. That's great news for us as we don't want, don't need, can't handle another tropical system coming near for the rest of this season.

Some good news...colder air is geting closer. All we need is for the jet stream to shift back to those east coast troughs. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen for several more weeks. that's why it's important to see any storms turning to the north BEFORE they get into the Gulf. I share the concern that many will not leave for another storm. I'll be watching for Ike to make the turn to the north.

Bob,

I'm back in my northshore home now, and just wanted to thank you once again for your calm demeanor during the late unpleasantness. Like you, I don't know why what happened happened, but I'm not arguing with success. Your broadcasts helped us get through this, so thanks once again.

Hi Bob,
I grew up watching Nash, and couldn't imagine a hurricane season without his steady hand at the helm. While no one can completely take his place, you have created a new place, a trusted place for me to be able to come to so I know what is going on with hurricanes and the weather in general. But especially during hurricane season I appreciate your calm and experienced way of presenting the facts, what can happen, what will happen, what can't happen weather wise. I truly appreciate the security you offer in hurricane forecasting.
Thanks Bob.

Bob, When you say Cold air, do you mean Fall weather?! I am hoping for that soon.

Nope, real cold front is several weeks away. The sooner the better for us.
