Colorado Buried...Record Warmth Here?

A powerful western storm has dumped 1-2 feet of snow across parts of Colorado & Wyoming closing down Interstate highways...and it's still October ! We'll be on the warm side of this system for the next 2 days threatening our record highs (85 & 87 at MSY). The severe threat should stay to our north and west, but we may eventually have to deal with heavy rain potential late Friday into early Saturday. Due to the slow movement of the front, parts of western LA could see 4-8" of rain, with our total more in the 2-4" range. Tonight's VIPIR run finally chases the rain outa here by midday on Saturday making Halloween dry for the kids in the evening.

Looking into next week, the models don't develop as deep an east coast trough so you can put away the heavy weather gear for awhile. Below zero temperatures are expanding over northern Canada. Will El Nino keep the real cold to our north? Stayed tuned for an exciting winter if these early snowstorms are any indication of what's to come.

Exciting for whom??! My dad stays in the Rockies Foothills up near Ft. Collins. And then he works offshore in the Gulf. What a Thermocline!

Why doesn't it surprise me when you say the east coast trough is not digging as deep as originally thought...I hate this SW flow...and when you say cold, cold for whom...apparently not us...

I get frustrated with weather...and I using nice words....

Folks get ready to run your AC for Thanksgiving and Christmas cause I got this gut feeling it will be muggy and warm.

The weather here can get annoying for sure, but I lived for several years in Colorado; And I honestly would prefer a dry mild winter over a freezing snowy one. The Earth has tilted now, we'll get some spotty warm days, but for the most part it'll be nice & comfortable. Strangest thing about Colorado was even though it was indeed "shorter", the summer felt about the same.
