Tonight's VIPIR model shows Fall's cooler weather will arrive in several waves. The first front will trigger some storms on Wednesday with more heavy downpours. Thursday will dry out before the second surge triggers some showers on Friday morning. Yet the third surge arrives early on Saturday bringing the coldest air here since last April. You'll need sweaters & jackets for certain Saturday PM thru Monday AM.
As I mentioned several weeks ago, hurricane season is over for us. Most of the tropical activity has been in the western Pacific where they have had over 20+ named storms so far. Next year we may not be so lucky, but we'll be one year closer to the Army Corps promised 100 year protection. Building gates & raising levees helps, but we must rebuild our coast if we truly want to feel some level of security.

Bring on "Old Man Winter!" We are tired of sweating! Thanks BOB for all the wonderful updates!
I am ready too! Bob, I am a BIG fan and 1st time blogger this is my very 1st blog to anyone, you should feel honored :). Anyway I have a question for you. My late uncle worked for years at the weather center in Slidell and I just wanted to know if you knew him. His name was John Mims. He always invited me to the weather center when I was younger because he knew I was a weather freak. ( my family calls me greg breck) Unfortunately I never had the time to get there or something always came up. Anyway I am a very big fan and appreciate you not just relating what the weather center says but going against them when your knowledge sees something they may have missed. If I ever see you in public, is it ok to shake your hand and introduce myself??? Thanks Bob.
The 12Z GFS is the coldest run I have seen yet placing the dense high further south than previous runs. 12Z GFS shows 30's for most of the North Shore and Mid 40's for the South Shore Monday Night. Due to the guidance trending a bit colder the NWS has dropped the temps in their forecast sneaking 40's into the river parishes. But still quite conservative.
Hey Onlyreal, where do you get your info? I read your posts and you seem to be on top of your weather game. Do you work for nws or do you just browse the weather sites? If you have any interesting sites to share, please post. Thanks.
Hi Greg,
I am my name is Dylan and I am 15 year old weather enthusiast and yes I do browse the weather sites all the time. I have a plethora of weather links. What particular type of links are you looking for? I'm sure I can help.
I dig reading up with Breck and Onlyreal. At 15 I was into playing the drums, lol. I like a teenager concentrating on studying weather. It gives me hope for the future, lol.
OMG 15 years old ONLYREAL ...are you fo' real ?!?!? LOL
I think I want ONLYREAL to intern at FOX with Bob Breck this next summer so he'll be ready when Mr. Breck retires!!! :)) PLZZZ
Onlyreal, I had a dream when I was young to work for the NWS. My uncle tried to get me to slidell but I was always "too busy". Now in my older years I could kick myself in the butt for not following a passion. If you love what you do you will never get tired of going to work. Follow that dream Dylan!!! I like any type of weather site. I like to look at good satellites for the northern hemisphere. NHC has good radars on its site but they concentrate on the tropical regions only. As for you Baxter, I was trying to play the guitar when you were on your drums!! lol
I am doing my best to follow that Dream, Greg. I read about Meteorology daily in my spare time and I always learn something new about it. I wish I had an uncle that worked at the NWS. I'm not that lucky though.
Now here are a few good Weather Websites that you will like. Just bookmark them and you will be in business.
