Coldest in over 6 Months !!!

Warning Weather Geeks...Fall Finally will arrive during the day on Friday and you'll need sweaters & jackets Friday night thru Midday on Monday. As ONLYREAL has been detailing so accurately, a deep east coast trough will develop over the weekend creating a nor'easter along the east coast and driving cold air all the way down to the Yucatan by Sunday morning. We could very well see some upper 30s on the Northshore Sunday & Monday mornings with mid to upper 40s away from lake P. on the Southshore. With much lower humidity, it'll be a welcomed change.

Greg...ONLYREAL will be one of my weather interns as soon as he turns 16. That's how Mandeville's Eric Blake started with me. Eric is now one of the forecasters at the National Hurricane Center. He's living his dream & so will Dylan someday. Bob Breck can not, will not work forever!

When that day comes, you'll probably end up like Dan M and stick around cause you can't stand to be away from the action! :)

Oh C'mon. I'm just now used to you (not being from New Orleans) you're my favorite meteorologist on TV. Less doom and gloom, more optimism and science. Stay with us forever!

I am so proud of you Only Real!! I didn't know you were going to intern with Bob. You will be learning from the best. Take every advantage of it, as this is the time to learn. I have been blogging with Bob pretty much from the beginning, and many have come and gone. We are glad you stayed.I live in Denham so I don't get to see Bob, but keep us abreast of your progress...

Bob, I am very humbled by your words. I'm looking forward to working with you and I am sure that I will learn a lot from you. Its always been a dream of mine to work with you at Fox 8 when I got older. Thank You for everything.

After the "Slight Risk" for Severe Weather this afternoon and tonight, all of the rain, thunderstorms, and humidity should be flushed out of the area by sometime tomorrow morning with frontal passage and dramatically cooler and drier air will begin to advect into our area. There will be several re-enforcing shots of cool air with the strongest moving through Saturday Morning. After its all said and done it will finally feel like October in New Orleans which is historically the nicest month of the year here, but it sure hasn't felt like it so far. Not only will it be much cooler but the winds will pick up a lot after Frontal Passage meaning you may need to break out the sweaters for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. It may even be windy enough for the NWS to issue Gale Warnings off the coast. highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the 60's and Lows should run in the Upper 30's to Low 40's on the North Shore and Upper 40's to Low 50's on the South Shore. Should make great Tail-Gating weather for the Saints Game. Like everything else nothing lasts in life and the nice fall weather be moving out of our area on Tuesday next week as Southerly Flow once again establishes its self.

Great Weather people don't bring news like that until the they have no choice. I'm checking out a couple of sites pretty regularly, and most of the long ranges seem to agree that while it may not "cold" from here on out, it will at least cooler. Which is good enough for me. Am I right??

I enjoy Onlyreal's comments here, he is a great addition to this blog site...he by far lives up to his username. He gives his honest opinion and is not scared to say what he might think the weather might do. I get a lot out of his analysis and look forward to his posts.

I am not a weather expert, but I like to throw my thoughts out there...I have learned a lot by coming to this site and hope Bob keeps it going, its a great asset to this community...

Now lets get the grill going and do some tailgating. I am predicting cold weather and the Saints remain undefeated.... Goooooo Saints.

ONLYREAL said...

I like your prediction Bourbon. I'm predicting the Saints remain Undefeated too. The Giants have been playing vanilla teams so far this year and in reality haven't been that impressive. I predict a Saints win over the Giants 27-24.

We need to watch Tropical Depression 20 in the Eastern Pacific. It could be our next big weather player here. The system is forecasted by all models to become a Major Hurricane and eventually move into Mexico get caught in the Sub-Tropical Jet Stream and impact our area late next week as a Low Pressure Area bringing us more heavy rain and dare I say a round of severe weather? Just a heads up.

Hey ONLYREAL. This is my first time blogging and we have much in common. I am 14 and also in the 9th grade. I have been interested in weather for as long as I can remember.

ONLYREAL said...

Hey Bob, After all these young guns move on, if you need a 50+ intern....Let me know!!! Keep it coming onlyreal. Keep polishing those skills!! Will it be too windy for me to fish inshore this weekend?

ONLYREAL said...

Yes Greg it will be very windy this weekend, especially Saturday when winds could be gusting as high as Gale Force so the seas will be quite rough.

Wxbug, Rummels nice. Actually, I have to go to Rummel's Wrestling Building this weekend for the Hydration Test. All varsity Wrestlers are required to take it by the state of Louisiana.

ONLYREAL said...

Yea it will be a little chilly. I'll be there Saturday Night Wxbug.

A line of Strong Thunderstorms is now impacting the North Shore and will be effecting the South Shore within the next 2 hours. Anyone in the path of this line of storms should expect Strong Gusty Winds, Heavy Rain, Frequent Lightning & Thunder, and a slight risk for Hail.

Bob I'm feeling a little OLD with all these younguns!!!!

I am so proud of ONLYREAL as well. Despite his age,OnlyReal has been delivering accurate forecasts for years and is years ahead of his time. Knowing that he will be learning from one of the industry's finest is wonderful. We love you Bob!

With those thunderstorms last night my weather station had a wind gust of 52 mph.

Weatherman said...

This time yesterday the temperature was 89 degrees, and today it's only 69 degrees. Fall has arrived!

ONLYREAL said...

Yea WxbugI had a gust to 51 with the Outflow Boundary prior to the line of Thunderstorms last night.

Some meteorologist are predicting el nino to change into a form of el nino modoki. Does that mean we will have a different weather pattern for winter?

ONLYREAL said...

I disagree with those Meteorologists. If they have looked at the Water Temperature Anomolies in the Equtorial Pacific they will realize that this is a Classic case of El Nino. Based off the ENSO Models El Nino should peak sometime in January to a moderate level and should fall back to Nuetral levels by the time next Hurricane Season roles around. Whats interesting is that if you look at the latest map the Anomolies are quickly falling below normal on the southern side of the Equator while on the North Side its still warming. I'll have to look into it in greater depth later. Right now all I would just expect a Stromy Winter and because of all the cloud cover the temperatures will generally be below normal.

ONLYREAL said...

WOW! The NWS is now forecasting some areas on the North Shore to fall to as low as 37F Sunday Night! This wind will need to die before tomorrow night in order for that to happen though.

As a teacher, I love seeing students realize their potential and push themselves to succeed. OnlyReal, may you have many years of happiness, doing the work that you love.
