Bob Breck Products Now Available...

As some of you already know, we have added a Bob Breck Marketplace to this web site. If you are a "fan" and would like to purchase a coffee mug for Grandma or Gramps, a mouse pad for your son or daughter, wife or husband, a tote bag or pens...they are now available in time for Christmas gifts. Shortly umbrellas, caps, T-Shirts and other items will be offered. As you know, we do not have any advertisers to off set the costs of running this web site. The Marketplace will help me cover those costs plus pay my webmaster for his time in monitoring the site. Have fun and get ready for more stuff soon.

It appears we will have a stretch of nasty weather beginning late Monday thru Wednesday. Not that anyone will care after we beat New England on Monday Night Football. My prediction is Saints 34, Patriots 31. Go Saints !!!

...The shape of its basin is roughly oval and approximately 810 nautical miles (1,500 km)...

Hi Susan,

The Gulf of Mexico is roughly 940 miles wide from Brownsville, Texas to Fort Myers, Florida. There is also a 530 Mile distance from the Mouth of the Mississippi River to the Northern Tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. I hope this helps!

The Surface High that brought us that fantastic Weather for the Thanksgiving Holidays has now moved east of the area and moisture is working back into the area. You could tell just by looking at this morning’s Sounding. The moisture and Clouds will continue to increase as we head into tonight. To our west we have a Large Upper Through with a Low cutting off at the base, and a cold front moving through Texas and Oklahoma. The Cold Front will reach us tomorrow morning. By tomorrow morning the Low will be completely Cutoff from the Trough and the Trough will quickly eject leaving the Cut-off Low behind. This will slow down the Cold Front and Cause it to stall over our area. With the Front there will be a band of Showers but it will be nothing significant and there shouldn't be enough rain around to ruin tailgating for the Saints Game Monday Afternoon.

Monday night while we are celebrating a Saints Victory, Surface Cyclogenesis will occur in the Northwest Gulf of Mexico at the tail end of the Cold Front due to strong Baroclinicity. The models Northeast Track of the Surface Low with the Upper Level Cutoff Low right behind it. With the CMC being the furthest to the West bringing the Surface Low into Western Louisiana and the GFS being the furthest to the East bringing the Surface Low into the New Orleans Metropolitan Area. The UKMET, NAM, ECMWF, DGEX, and NOGAPS being in the middle. One thing the guidance agrees upon is that the Surface Low will bomb out as it passes through our area. Severe weather does not look to be an issue but Heavy Rainfall is. Both the HPC and the guidance agree that a swath of 4-8 inches of rain will fall Tuesday Night/Wednesday Morning across SE LA and Coastal Mississippi, isolated Totals could reach 10 inches. I think that flooding could be an issue too. May I also mention that temperatures will be in the 40's and 50's while all of this is going on so it will be quite nasty.

Once the Low ejects out of the area expect Cold air to advect into the area. The North Shore could see another freeze as soon as Thursday and Friday Mornings.

Glad to see Bob has Bob Breck products now available, I'll be ordering my morning cup soon.

The weather has been cool and nice since Thanksgiving and I enjoyed getting the Christmas lights up as the cold weather put me in the Christmas Spirit....

Good to see Bob and OnlyReal predict a Saints victory. I think the Saints will win and it will be a high scoring game. Couldn't help notice Troy Aikman touting that Minnesota was the better NFC team over the Saints because Farve has too many weapons...Meanwhile saying this while Farve was having a field day against The Bears....I was furious...ah we too have many weapons and lets remember who is undefeated Troy.

Can't wait to get down there tomorow...Gooo Saints!!!!

Saint 45 Pats 38.

Thanks Onlyreal! :) very helpful. I was always curious about that.

I watched it Bourbon... I was very angry last night over that. I can tell you too that Brett Farve didn't look like superman last night. Maybe he is beginning his typical late season downfall? We want them to come to the Dome in January, and if Adrian Peterson fumbles Twice they WILL pay with our Defense.

I think the Saints will win tonight, after a close first half the Saints will run the Patriots out of the Dome in the Second Half 42-21.

PS... Maybe Arizona will take out their frustration on Minnesota on Sunday after a tough loss in Tennessee last night.

I think I'm the only one in NOLA who thinks we need to lose a couple in the regular season to avoid the complacency of champions when it matters, like in that big BIG show. I wish we would have lost one by now because I sure don't want to lose against the Patriots. I think it's gonna be a great game either way. This is being touted as THE game of the season. I think if we're slow during the first half we'll lose it, but if we hit hard and fast and we do not tire until the end, like we've been accomplishing so far, we'll take it all the way home in February.

The Models show a strong longwave Trough diving into the Lower 48 late this work week with a powerful High associated with it. Both the GFS and CMC both indicate that SNOW is in our near future, perhaps as soon as Saturday Morning. The European model is closely behind and may jump on the bandwagon on its next run. I will have an update tomorrow morning.

Surface Analysis exhibits a strengthening Surface Low in the Western Gulf of Mexico, this feature will be the big player in our forecast for the Short-term. A large shield of Moderate Rain with heavier cells embedded is sitting just of the coast is going to begin impeding on the City of New Orleans later this morning. The rain will start light this morning, with even a few breaks in the rain but it will remain overcast. As we head into the afternoon hours, however, the rain will start to increase in coverage and intensity as the Surface Low begins sliding northeastward as it feels the effects of a Long-wave Trough dipping into the Great Plains.

Tonight, between 6pm and 3am is when I anticipate the heaviest rain will fall in our area and that is also when the Surface Low will make its closest approach. During that time period severe weather could also be an issue, with isolated occurrences of Damaging winds and Tornadoes possible. It will be very windy tonight with gusts up to 40mph possible, this has also sparked the issuance of Gale Warnings with winds up to 50 knots and waves 16-18 feet high possible in the offshore waters. With such a long period of steady rain forecasted, one should realize that it could mean flooding, especially when you live in Southeast Louisiana. Though I think the heaviest totals will be just to the South of the City, we will still get plenty of rain with 3-6 inches of rain likely by this tome tomorrow morning. Ohh, and did I mention that temperatures will be in the 50's while all of this is going on?

Most of the rain will be over with by daybreak tomorrow morning as the rapidly strengthening Surface Low heads into Central Mississippi. Due to the Counter-clockwise motion of the winds when it comes with Low Pressure Systems, we will have northerly winds all day tomorrow which will allow cool air to continue filtering in. It will also be gloomy with overcast periods of Drizzle. The combination of the aforementioned factors will keep us chilly tomorrow with highs staying in the 50's and with clearing skies tomorrow night lows will fall into the low 40's.

Later this week a strong trough will dip down into the Lower 48, and this will allow the cold air to continue pouring into the area. This will keep highs in the 50's for the rest of the work week. Now here is where it gets fun... While the cold air is pouring into the area on Friday, a couple of the models develop a surface Low in the Western Gulf of Mexico and bring in some moisture. IF that happens, we could see some flurries Friday Night/Saturday morning (wouldn't you like that?). With the Saints being 11-0 I say anything is possible.

Man was that not Great??! I wish I could stop being so conservative, but I must admit I'm more of a coaching fan then player fan. My prediction?? Now that the leaf has turned and the stars have lined, the new franchise is down in da south. Breck had called for a couple of snows this season. That would just be wild.

Whew... There is some serious cold building in Canada and Sibrea.

Would it not be amazing to see snow earlier than last year's December 11th snow fall. Just to see if the GWist say GW caused it. How absurd....

Have to admit, I like this cold air with the rain...keep on thinking if it were 15 degrees cooler we'd have some serious snow falling right now...

Baxter, I don't buy into the the Saints should lose a couple. Coach Payton has instilled a winning attitude into these players. A winning attitude that keeps players to believe they can come from behind and win. Winning builds attitude, character, and success. Truthfully I want the Saints to win every game they play this year..ah and early next year too!!!

I am sure Baxter that when you were in grade school you said yeah let me fail a test just to keep my average from being 100. No, you always take a test hoping to ace it...

Bob you had the whole crowd cheering WHO DAT!!! Wow what a game last night...total domination...and Only Real what a prediction..my hats off to ya...

OK any want to BBQ some Lamb Chops for next week.
