Boring Is Good...For A few Days !

The rest of this week will resume the fine stretch of November weather that began the 1st 8 days of this month...dry & pleasant. In fact the next rain chance won't arrive until Sunday, and even then it appears chances will be 20-30% at best as another cool front will sweep thru...notice I said "cool" and not cold. Nope, gotta wait a little while longer to pull out those heavy coats. However, long range computer models are hinting for a real cold outbreak from Canada diving into the lower 48 in about 10-12 days, just before Thanksgiving!

In case you haven't heard the latest news at FOX 8 this week...former Ch. 4 reporter Dave McNamara and anchor Lee Zurik have joined the FOX 8 family.

I like that long range model forecast, Bob regarding the heavy coat weather. If you like really Long Range... The CFS model (which was correct about this year quiet Hurricane Season) is forecasting measurable snow in New Orleans in February.

Man, I am OKAY with this weather. My favorite weather only comes in a total of a month spread out down here, it striking again around what I have "heard" referred to as spring. I could handle this weather and get rid of winter all together. Kudos on Lee Zurik, I like him. I haven't seen much of McNamara.

Hey Weatherguys, Can long Range forecasting be trusted?? I know that there is science and there are ways that the knowledge can be applied, but how trustworthy is it?? Is 15 days even reliable? I've asked here before but the question may have gotten lost in the shuffle or not seen due to the fact that internet people have their own outside lives.

15 Day forecasts are usually wrong and have a low accuracy rating. After about day 5, depending on whether or not the models are in good agreement, most forecasts are based off of climatology. But every now and then those 15 day forecasts are correct, mostly because of luck, however. I remember when I was barely 10years old and I would always look at Accuweather.com's 15 day forecasts for our area(I didn't know better). I remember one day I went and looked at their 15 day forecast and they had Snow in our forecast on Christmas Day (Day 15).
I remember freaking out and being so excited. Especially when I realized that it verified. After about 6 more months of looking at their 15 day forecasts I realized they were very inaccurate and they were highly unreliable. Overall its fine to look at long range forecasts, you just have to know how to interpret them. I would take any forecast beyond day 7 with a grain of salt.

Ohh...It gets better. If one looks into further detail you will notice the CFS Model has the snow falling here on February 8th, the day after the Superbowl. Surly it would snow if the Saints won the Superbowl. haha
