IDA Showing Signs of Weakening...

Since the last hurricane hunter aircraft left Ida hours ago & another is not scheduled to be on site until 1 AM, NHC uses satellite pictures to gage any intensity fluctuations. In the last 2-3 images, Ida has clearly gone from a symetric system to one that is suffering cooler & drier air entrainment on its north & east sides. I would be "stunned" if Ida doesn't start weakening once it gets north of 25 degrees as water temps drop into the 70s. Our local weather should be OK thru about the noon hour. It's the afternoon and evening when the full effects of Ida will brush us with the brunt of the storm from GPT/BIX eastward into FL. Now IF Ida doesn't weaken and IF Ida doesn't make the turn, then SE LA will feel far greater impacts. Again, this is November and this is not Katrina nor Gustav. FOX 8 will have hourly updates all night and all day on Monday with our morning newscast beginning at 5 AM.

Thank You Bob for the update.

With Ida now beginning to feel more unfavorable conditions do you expect Ida to begin loosing Tropical Characteristics in the next 12 hours or so?

Thanks for the update Bob I 'l be watching you on Fox 8 later one then.

Looking at satellite imagery Hurricane Ida may be beginning to feel the influence of the approaching upper level trough over Texas which means the shift to due North could be commencing.

Satellite Imagery this morning shows that Ida is making the transition to Extra-Tropical with all of her convective activity moving to her North and Western Quadrants and dry air impeding on the cyclone is only hastening the process. Hurricane Hunter Observations also support this with the strongest winds nearly 50 miles North of the Center. Looking at Long Range Radar this morning Ida's center is still moving NNW and a landfall in the Mississippi Gulf Coast looks probable to me. There is still plenty of ridging over Florida and the Carolina's.

Yes Caveman,

A 15 year old without a College degree and an unfinished High School education was wrong to a certain extent about a 7 day forecast for a Tropical Cyclone.

Congratulations...

At least I am not rude enough and have the class to not post your incorrect posts from the past. But obviously you are still living in the past.

Looks like SELA will not get much rain. Yesterday the HPC was saying 3-5 inches, but now rain chances are diminishing.

Onlyreal - we love your intelligent posts and ignore those who are here for other purposes. Ignore them and they go away, respond to them and they come back with more hot air. Certainly don't let it bother you enough to grant credence with a response. Bob keeps him in line.

Hey Onlyreal, you can't feed the trolls man, lol. Your annoyance is their fuel. I've trolled around on the internet for years now, I guess I kinda grew up. I still get a chuckle out of a good troll but sadly I think I've grown out of that phase of my internet life.

Now we're observing Caveman making his insults more direct, which is a sign of aggravation, probably because a couple of us came to your defense Onlyreal. Before he was being somewhat vague which is the sign of a good troll, but now this kind of action just about drains him of all credibility. I would have guessed him to be in his 30's, but this just shows the immaturity of 20 yr old troll. You'd probably find Caveman on easy target blogs such as The Jonas Bros. or Hannah Montana annoying people there too. I was holding out hope for our funny troll on this blog, but this action just makes him a cookie cutter troll void of any originality.

Thank you everyone who came out to defend me. Its much appreciated by me and I won't let the troll get to me again. Thanks again.

Kudos to you Bob and Viper. Viper was right all along and forecasted this dry slot we have been in.

Bob,

I'm watching you on TV and I am quickly becoming a big fan of the Landry Lakefront Camera. Thanks for using it on TV.
