Stormy Night Far North...

As we approach the start of our severe weather season (Feb-Mar), I hope today's activity doesn't foretell what this El Nino Spring will bring us. Although we had numerous warnings, NWS said they had no damage reports. Looking ahead, we have another front expected to bring more storms Saturday night into early Sunday. Right now it's too soon to say how strong they might be. In the short term, Thurs, Fri, & most of Sat. will be dry and fairly warm. The next real cold won't arrive until early next week when we'll be back to sweaters and jackets.

I'll have my Saint's/ Vikings prediction tomorrow night.

Well, the front is moving through southern Louisiana as I type this. This is a very weak front and do not expect it to do anymore than advect some drier air into the area. The clouds shouldn't go away immediately this morning but should be out of here by lunchtime and it should end up being a nice day. It will be warm, though, I do not have a problem with that after last week’s arctic blast. Highs today will reach into the mid 70's. With the drier air in place the temperature extremes should be a bit wider than last night. Lows on the SS should drop into the 51-53 range, NS should drop into the upper 40's.

Friday will be a sunny day, dry, and a little cooler with highs staying in the 60's. On Friday night moisture will begin advecting into the area as return flow establishes itself. This will trigger the development of Fog Friday night, the closer you are to body water the thicker it will become. Due to the higher Dew points the lows for Friday Night will not be as low as the previous night. Lows will be in the upper 50's on the SS and low 50's on the NS.

The next weather maker will move into the area on Saturday. This will consist of a strong low pressure system that will traverse the Great Plains region with an attached cold front that will extend all the way down to the Gulf Coast. Saturday will start off mostly clear, however, by noon we should be under near complete overcast. Saturday will be warm and humid with highs in the low 70's. The line of rain and thunderstorms along the Cold Front will move through Saturday Night. At this time I do not see any severe weather with this line as the best dynamics should stay well to our North. Maybe central Mississippi and points north will get in on some severe weather but not us. Rainfall totals should be less than an inch across the entire area.

All of the rain should be out of here by the time you go tailgate on Sunday for the Saints game. Initially, there could be some lingering strato-cumulus clouds but they should be long and gone by the late afternoon hours. Cooler and dryer air will also be advecting into the area throughout the day on Sunday. Highs will stay in the 60's. When you walk into the dome it should be a pleasant 63F outside. Sunday night, while were all be celebrating our Saints win, temperatures will fall into the 40's.

Monday through Thursday we will be experiencing a cool and tranquil stretch of weather as High pressure dominates the area at the surface. We will be under Northwest flow aloft due to the deep East Coast trough that will be in place. BY Thursday Night the east coast trough will lift and we will go back into zonal flow. Friday a Short wave through will move into the area and trigger the development of a Gulf Low, The exact timing and strength of this system is yet to be determined.

@ ONLYREAL you do see in your crystal ball thick fog for Saturday morning then!? :)

Pompo,

My crystal ball tells me that there will be Fog on Saturday Morning, but it will greatly depend on where you are. It does look like winds will be over 10 mph Sat. Morning so I do not think it will be a dense fog. Unless its a sea fog. In my opinion the closer you will be to a body of water the thicker whatever fog is around will be and the father away from water you are the less thick it will be.

So with the extreme cold does this make for a thicker fog season since the Lake and Gulf temperatures are colder now due to the artic blast??? Or does it depend on the situation the weather is in.

Oh I am optimistic on Sundays Game. Minnesota scares me more than Arizona did. Can the Saints play with the same intensity and bring their A game again? Will they come out strong and take an early lead? Can the Saints D keep the running and passing game in check? Will Minnesota have another poor road game???...I am thinking if Chicago beat them, so can we.

One small advantage is that we will have one more day of rest than the Viking as we played last weekend on Saturday and they on Sunday....1st seed has it privlrdges...

I wiil play my part and will be there on Sunday with the intentions of bringing my A game and cheering the Saint on... And no superstitions here.... but I will where the same clothes as I did last week!!!!

New Orleans 35 Vikings 27

Best wishes to our New Orleans Saints!!!! Whooooo Dat!!!!
