Here we go Again...

After a near perfect Sunday, our weather will go back into the dumper on Monday and Tuesday. Once again we have a strong upper disturbance coming at us from the west. It will trigger another Gulf Low that will result in the potential for heavy rainfall Monday afternoon and evening. Some showers will linger into Tuesday before we dry out for the rest of the week. Colder air will return behind this system so keep the sweaters and jackets handy. By the end of this week, highs should be back above 60 and top 70 by the weekend.

Meteorological Winter (Dec-Jan-Feb) is over! Bring on Spring!

"Going to get worse before it gets better..."

The main story in this forecast is the storm system that will move through our area today into tonight.

Today will start off mostly sunny and beautiful, but that is going to change drastically in a few hours. A strong upper level disturbance embedded in the Sub-Tropical Jet Stream is moving in our direction and its energy has already triggered the development of a Surface Low in the Gulf of Mexico off the Texas Coastline. Over the next few hours the low will begin to rapidly draw rich Gulf moisture into the area. Rain should begin to intrude our area by 1 pm this afternoon and should be relatively steady through the overnight hours. I can't rule out a short break or two. The rain will start off quite light but should become heavy at times. Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches should fall area wide tonight, so this system should be a good soaking rain. Temperatures should be pretty cold through this event. Temperatures should be in the mid to upper 50's when the rain begins, however, it will likely drop into the 40's once the rain really gets going. The atmosphere looks too warm, especially in the low levels of the atmosphere for any form of wintry precipitation. To make this forecast even nastier, winds are forecasted to become out of the north at 20-30mph tonight. Sounds like a good night to stay home.

We should begin to see the rain tapering off by sunrise Tuesday Morning. Sometime Tuesday Afternoon the sun will begin to peak through the clouds. Tuesday will likely be the coldest day of March. Highs will struggle to get out of the 40's' especially if the sun comes out late. Once the Sun comes out it will not go away for a while. High Pressure will dominate the area through the work week keeping our weather nice. To make it better, we will see a warming trend starting Wednesday. Wednesday our high will be in the mid 50's, by Friday our High will be in the mid 60's, and by Sunday we might see 70F. I don't know about you, but I could go for some warmer weather.

Bob,

Go to the Drudge Report where it directs you to an article in the New York Times by Al Gore on Feb 28, 2010, where he attempts to explain the "errors" of late and props up the AGW stance.

Very interesting. Tell us what you think about this New York Times article.
