Severe Storms Coming?

Finally we topped 70 this afternoon, but more importantly the dew points have risen above 60+. That means the Gulf muggies are back and along with that deep moisture will be the threat for some heavy T-Storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. The trigger will be another strong low latitude upper disturbance that could produce T-Storms with strong, gusty winds, hail and an isolated tornado. Storm prediction Center has us in the slight risk for severe weather with the greatest threat coming between 3-9 PM Wednesday. Once that passes, Thursday looks dry and warm with highs approaching 80 before cooler air flows in for Friday and the Weekend. I'm planting my annuals this weekend, but it's still too soon to start tomatoes as we're still likely to have a frost or two within the next 2-3 weeks.

Bob & onlyreal,
Will that rain cause any street flooding or will it be fast moving? Also, will there be breaks in the weather?
Thanks

Well, I'm in Metairie and it is 10:30. So far, so good. Cloudy but no rain. I guess this must be the calm before the storm. Are we really expecting SEVERE weather. Looking at futurecast we aren't even predicted to get much rain.

Hi Susan,

I do not expect any street flooding with this system. This afternoon any storms that develop will be few and far between. Also, the best chance this morning into this afternoon for any Shower and Thunderstorm, especially any Severe weather will be on the Northshore. The threat for Severe Weather, although marginal, will shift to the Southshore tonight when the Cold Front moves through the area. The main threats with this system will be Hail and an Isolated Tornado or two. The threat for Severe Weather will end after midnight when the Cold front passes and advects drier air into the region.

80's Lions, Tigers, and Bears...Oh My...

Always find if funny how the cold weather kills the plants, but the weeds live thru it all....

Hey I guess we can compare Global warming and "Follow the Money" with Scott Fujita signing with Cleveland. After all he said about his career starting here and his kids were born here and then he jumps ship to Cleveland...

I mean how does one have the excitment of a lifetime of winning the Superbowl and shootl the Gold hasn't even cooled yet on his ring and he in Clevelane...just follow the money!!!

And of all teams Cleveland...they didn't exactly set the world on fire last year....
