Weekend Great or Bad?

My wife has been up outside Philly for the past 6 days. In case you haven't been following the weather across the Northeast, she hasn't seen the sun for the past 5 days with 4 days straight of driving downpours. As you know, we have been enjoying some terrific Spring-like weather here so Brenda will be thrilled to be back in the Sunny South tomorrow.

This week will not be as warm as today as the upper flow will resume from the NW. Highs should remain below normal/average for most of this week, but rain chances appear slim to none. Compared to other parts of our nation, our weather will continue to be much nicer.

Had to chuckle hearing several local weather folks says..."there will be an extra hour of daylight tomorrow"... when describing the time change. No, the hours of daylight will be nearly the same (increasing by a minute of two each day), but it will stay light longer in the evening. The bad side to that is it will also be darker in the mornings when the kids are leaving for school. Reminds me when I once said back in 1975 (Dayton,Ohio)..."Chicken size hail fell..." when I meant to say..."hail the size of chicken eggs." I still have the cartoon from the newspaper the next day showing chickens falling from the sky! Life needs a smile every day!

Other than some thin high clouds, we have another day of fantastic weather in store for the New Orleans area. Highs will once again touch the 70F mark this afternoon and temperatures will drop into the 40's on both sides of the lake tonight.

On Tuesday the Sub-Tropical Jet will become active again and this will spread some thicker high clouds over the area on Tuesday. Tuesday Night an Upper Level disturbance in the Sub-Tropical Jet-Stream will move in from the West and this will give a chance for some showers and they could linger all the way into Wednesday Night. However, it shouldn't be any big deal because they will be sporadic and light.

Thursday and Friday look to dry out as High Pressure moves into the region. Highs will once again jump into the 70's and Low will dip into the 50's.

Unfortunately the nice weather will go away just in time for the weekend. On Saturday a Surface Low will rapidly develop in the Southern Plains and will move NE. This will drive a cold front into the region and this will give is a chance for Showers and Thunderstorms on Saturday. The front should be through our area by Saturday Night. Behind it will be a much colder air mass. Highs should be a good 10 degrees warmer than Saturday and temperatures could dip into the 30's for Sunday Night.
