Yep, what a great opportunity for me, being an "honorary observer" at the Zurich Classic yesterday assigned to follow the Jerry Kelly (last year's winner) group. My friend Everret Bonner and I were allowed inside the ropes to be right next to the golfers and their caddies, listening to their strategies and small talk. What a great day it was gonna be...but then...after only 2 holes, Mother Nature let go a one two punch of heavy rains and vivid lightning, one stroke captured on TV by the Golf Channel hitting a tree on the fairway. Yikes...had to retreat to the Champions Clubhouse for beer and food. Not a bad way to end the day, but geez, my day had just begun. Oh well, maybe next year.
As you may know, most of SE LA. is under a Tornado Watch until 1 PM. FOX 8 is doing hourly updates until the danger passes. SPC has the "high risk" area to our north in MS, but the N-Shore in in the "moderate' risk with the S-Shore in the "slight risk" area. A cold front has passed Houston and ahead of it is the potential for severe weather. keep checking with FOX 8 at the top of every hour for updates. Hopefully the bad weather will pull away giving us a dry afternoon for golf and the J-fest? Sunday shud clear out and be a much better day.

Much nicer weather will be with us for the beginning of the work week as a cooler and drier air-mass filters into the area. Monday will not be as warm as Sunday as heights continue to lower, however, we should not have any problems reaching the low 80's tomorrow. It will be comfortable though with the dry air and breezy conditions.
There will be a few more clouds and perhaps even an isolated afternoon shower on Tuesday as a weak upper disturbance embedded in the Northwest Flow aloft passes to the north of our area. All this will do is bring a re-enforcing shot of cool and dry air into our area. The weak upper shortwave will also prolong the breezy conditions a little longer, but hey, I'm not complaining! As a result of this, our highs on Tuesday will only reach the low to mid 70's and our lows will be in the upper 40's to low 50's. These temperatures are a couple degrees below normal, this has been a re-occurring theme over the last couple of months.
We will begin to warm up big-time on Thursday as upper ridging builds over our area. Highs will skyrocket into the mid to upper 80's across the area as a result. Our lows will also be quite warm with temperatures only dropping into the 70's. Friday will be much the same. A strong upper trough will exit the Rockies on Saturday bringing back the chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms just in time for the weekend. We will have another look at our weather later this week.

Stepped into the pool this evening, ah, just my feet on the first step. Really doesn't feel all that cold. I guess after an all day sunny warm day probably warmed the water up a degree or two.
May have to try test the aaaaaaa, eeeeeee, iiiiiiii, oooooooo, uuuuuuu theory. You know with each step you get a litle more of your body in the pool. Will hve to see how much the upper body can handle the water temp. I find once you get in and adjust its okay....
Nope!!! I refuse to jump in and get it over with in one swoop. The medical profession has machines to jump starts the heart, so no thanks.
Usually by mid May is the start of swim season. Still have not put the thermometer in the pool yet so no temps to report yet.
Based on OnlyReal's short range forecast, rain, followed by a brief cool down and rain for the weekend will probably lower temps just a tad.
Bob that must have been a real treat being that close to the Golf action. Sorry it had to be so short lived.
