Warmer, but still dry...
After the record wettest December, we needed some time to dry out. the 1st 3 months of 2010 have done just that as we're down 5-6" from our long term averages/Normals. No big deal since most plants were killed during the winter's freezes. Now that we're back into the 80s and plants are growing, we need some rain. It appears our only opportunity this week will be after midnight on Wednesday and into the early morning hours on Thursday. A cold front will sweep thru taking away the muggies and giving us a weekend of comfy cool nights and sunny, warm days. One month from today, Lee Zurik makes his debut on FOX 8. Stayed turned.

There isn't much to talk about for today. With High Pressure still over the area it should be another partly sunny, warm, and humid day. Once again, temperatures should have no problem getting into the low 80's this afternoon across the area. We might even be a degree warmer then yesterday due to the ridge axis being directly over us. It should feel too bad however because winds will out of the south at 8-15 mph throughout most of the day. Tonight will be mild and muggy with temperatures across the area staying in the mid-60's.
Tomorrow the ridging that has dominated the eastern half of the country for the past week or so will begin to slide east and retrograde as a large upper level trough slides into the Great Plains and on into the Mississippi River Valley. At the surface, a strong surface low will develop over Kansas and it will slide NE during the day tomorrow. This will force a pretty strong cold front into the area for Wednesday night. Since the cold front doesn't look to get here 'till tomorrow night the majority of Wednesday looks mostly cloudy and breezy. That extra cloud cover should allow us to stay in the 70's tomorrow. Wednesday Night the strong cold front will move in from west and along it will come the chance for some showers and thunderstorms. The SPC thinks that there will be enough instability, wind shear, and moisture for some strong to severe storms tomorrow night so they have put all areas just to our west under a slight risk. Since this is the case, I would advise you to keep your NOAA weather radio's on, Wednesday night.
Most of the bad weather associated with the Cold Front will be out of the area by Thursday Morning and all the cloud cover should be out of here by noon. Thursday should end up being a really nice day as much cooler and drier air filters into the area from the North. Winds should also be quite gusty Thursday and Thursday Night. Beautiful Weather will continue on into the weekend as High Pressure dominates the region. High's from Friday through Sunday look to be 70's and temperatures at night look to fall into the 50's.
