1st Heat Wave?

10 more days left in May before Meteorological Summer begins, but this weekend will feel like June arrives early. That's because an upper ridge is expected to build over us capping our daily showers allowing temperatures to rise into the low to mid 90s. Friday still should see some afternoon T-Storms, but Saturday & Sunday should see none. Rain chances return by Tuesday and we'll need it to cool us back into the upper 80s. All in all, it you like it almost hot, this weekend should be a winner.

Hurricane Season starts June 1st but already there was a small swirl of clouds off the Yucatan near Cancun. Fortunately wind shear is still way to strong for anything to develop. With much of the Gulf covered in an oil sheen, some scientists are wondering what affect that might have on a storm coming into the Gulf. Hope they cap the leak soon so we can clean up the mess before a storm arrives.

Oh No Bob! Don't say the H word! Hurricane season is upon us again. I have been on 5 cruises, all of them during fall and winter. I finally booked a cruise for August 28th so I can enjoy those pools on the ship. Hopefully I won't have to worry about the H word! Cozumel...beautiful but could be a very bad place to be in late August. Wonder if we had to get re-routed, where they would re-route us to???

Three words can describe this week: hazy, hot, and humid! This is the typical set-up we get over the summer where high temperatures rise up to 90 degrees, and then we cool down with the arrival of pop-up thunderstorms. It’s the only way, besides a tropical system, to cool us off by this time of year as cold fronts don’t have the energy to push through. Our rain coverage for this weekend is close to zero as a ridge is building in, so highs will be in the low to mid 90s with plenty of sunshine. This is good if you have any outdoor plans, but bad for your garden if you missed out on the rain this week. If you’re looking for higher rain chances and cooler temperatures, the chance seems to be in the middle of next week as an upper-level disturbance intrudes from the northeast. Until that happens, expect highs in the low 90s, lows in the middle 70s, and mostly sunny skies.
