Comparing the past 5 Mays, this will be by far the warmest as we already have hit 90 degrees 4 times with 10 days left in the month. The previous Mays topped 90 five times or less. What does that mean? Probably not much. I remember 1980 when May was not unusually hot...but when we got into June, the oven turned on and we had the hottest summer ever topping 100 several times. In fact, we had highs still above 90 well into October. No it was NOT an active hurricane season that year.
This weekend should be mostly dry as an upper level ridge builds over us. Without our daily showers, expect highs to challenge the records for the next 3-4 days. Enjoy your weekend, but use common sense if you're working outdoors.
