This year's AMS Broadcaster's Conference will be held on Miami Beach next week. There will be an all day course on Tropical Meteorology Wednesday with trips to The National Hurricane Center and their research facility, Atlantic Ocean Meteorological lab. on Saturday. In between will be many sessions on issues broadcasters face daily, plus training with our weather vendors on how to maximize our new HD graphic systems. So I won't be on vacation next week...then again, it's Miami Beach !
NWS put us back under a heat advisory and my guess is we're likely to see that in place for much of this summer as the oil clean up will continue for many, many months. The tropical wave approaching the Leeward islands tonight has become more concentrated, however, NHC says westerly wind shear ahead of it should prevent development. Locally, we'll see some daily T-Storms as our only relief from the heat. Don't forget to treat your Dad this weekend. This will be the 10th Father's Day without my Pop. Only when he's gone do you realize you didn't give him enough of your time.

I know you'll learn a lot next week and then come back and share with us what you've learned.
Happy Early Fathers's Day!!!
I remember a few years ago the NWS was issuing freeze warnings. It had reoccured for a few days and one night the temps were dipping below freezing and yet no freeze warning. You had said that after a few cold nights they dropped the freeze warning as we have come accustomed to the cold...or at least as I remember it.
Can't the same be said about the heat and all these advisories. We too know it is hot and to take it easy with afternoon activities. Of course BP has made this a special summer haven't they.
Thoughts to ponder
1. Just wondering what in Obama's speech the other night did Cap and Trade have to do with an oil leak...
2. Can't quite get my head around the EPA having to test a method of oil clean-up as enviromentally safe when the problem at hand is doing wonders to our environment...
3. When are the hearings for the Obama administration for its handling of the oil leak....asking why did it turn down help from 13 countries and 2 states in the early stages of this oil leak...
4. When the next plane crashes is Obama going to shut down the airline industry? Isn't this admin going to have form a committee to see if Air travel is safe??? In the coal mine disaster is he going to shut down that industry as well. Let's just put the whole world out of work...
