Rains Keep Us Cool...

These daily showers are getting kind of old, but they have broken the string of 90+ highs started back in late May. A slow moving upper low near Houston will stagger across Louisiana the next 2-3 days so expect more drenching rains, but highs should stay below 90. It appears the 1st half of June will stay quiet in the tropics as wind shear across the Gulf and Tropical Atlantic remains strong. Shear over the Caribbean is less so that will be the most likely spot for something to form during the next 2 weeks.

Today's reports on the oil leak continue to be depressing as more and more states are seeing oil reach their coasts. With more and more birds dying, hopefully BP can get their new capture system to work and stop most of the oil from escaping. We just have to hope for a quiet 1st 2 months of this hurricane season so the clean up crews can skim/soak/burn up as much of the leak as possible.

Good Morning Everyone!

Looking at water vapor There is a Trough over the east coast, ridging over the Southwest US and what appears to be an upper level low over SE Texas. Today, expect hot afternoon temperatures with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. All shower activity will diminish as the sun goes down this evening.

As we head into tomorrow High Pressure will really begin to make its presence known across the region. The effects of this on our weather will be lower rain chances, as a result our afternoon highs will surge into the mid 90's threatening records. This type of pattern will continue for the rest of the work week. Due to the high humidity levels and the anticipation of near record high temps, heat indicies will reach the low to mid 100's so if you have any out door plans please stay hydrated.

This weekend the large high will begin to break down and this will allow for our rain chances to once again increase. Also, this will bring back down our highs to the low 90's. There are some indications that a weak front will try to work its way down here this weekend. If this happens expect the rain chances to really come up.

Tropical Update: Tropics are currently quiet across the basin and is expected to remain that way for the next 7 days. This is typical of June.

Have a great week!

Thanks OnlyReal for your forecast. Good to have you back. Bet you're glad school is out...Enjoy your summer.

Cut the grass this evening with my son. He helps me and does a great job. It was hot but the sun was begining to set so grass cutting grass was bearable...We have both decided to cut grass in the evening. We used to cut it in the middle of the day....yikes. So far we have done two evening cuts with hardly any rest periods.

Couldn't tell you how great the pool felt afterwards...you could feel the heat just coming off your body...no pool temp yet...have to set it back in the pool again...I'd say in lower 80's.

OnlyReal lets hope the Tropics stay quiet this year....
