Probably...but where? Late today the weak swirl off our coast had NHC scrambling putting out a special statement indicating that the potential for tropical development had jumped from "near zero to 60%". That circulation is still visible on local radar loops drifting slowly westward south of Morgan City. IF it stays over water, there is the remote possibility it could strengthen over night. It is moving away from us, but it could keep winds and seas off our coast too high to allow much oil clean up.
The better chance for a depression may come from a tropical wave moving across the Yucatan. Satellite loops tonight show it remains disorganized. Regardless of any development, it appears deep tropical moisture will give us the potential for heavy flooding rainfall late Tuesday into Thursday. Pay attention for any updates.
