Looping Storms...Wet Week Ahead...

Sometimes tropical systems lose their steering currents and slow down, stall and occasionally do loops. (Ivan, Allison, Juan and Betsy to name a few) TD 5 made it into central Alabama and Georgia yesterday but it is heading back southward this afternoon just about reaching the Florida panhandle. This circulation will move out into the Gulf again tonight and NHC has upped their probability for the remains of TD 5 to redevelop from 20% to 30%. Could it become Danielle tomorrow or Tuesday? Sure, but since it's to our east, winds will blow offshore for the next 24 hours blowing water out of the coastal marshes and keeping most of the rainfall to our east. As the system drifts to our west late Tuesday, winds will become SSE and we will get into the wet side of this system for Tues-Thursday. There will be the possibility for flooding rains once again with amounts greater than 5+ inches. Worst case scenario? We could see a moderately strong Tropical Storm (50-60 mph) late Tuesday night into Wednesday. Since it will stay fairly close to land, rapid intensification is not likely. But if it moves farther away from the coast, it could become stronger. NHC has schedule a plane for Monday morning. Still no other tropical activity worldwide.

Now BOB, I told you I didn't want any tropical systems in the gulf before my cruise!!! Darn Tropical Depression # 5 just doesn't want to go away and die off... Hopefully a bit of rain and wind (a repeat of last Tuesday) will be all we will have to deal with.... 12 days till I cruise to paradise!
ONLY REAL, where have you been...Burbon St. Blues, I got in my pool yesterday and it was actually very pleasant (cool) after all the rain we had last week.

Yes Nashette have my fingers crossed for you with your upcoming cruise. I wish you the best of times. I know 12 days will seem like an eternity till your cruise starts. I can only imagine you are watching the tropics like a hawk.

I havent been in my pool all weekend...I was about to cut grass when in came the rain. I usually jump in afterwards to cool off.

Well, if I had my way, it can rain everyday in the summer, ...it cools the attic off and the house is cooler...

Yep OnlyReal has been as quiet as the tropics....

hey bob, i think we gonna have a weak season this year. not as busy as they say. it always seems to be something that destroys these depressions before they even get to a strong storm. upper lows and other wind anomalies seem to come from nowhere and the forecasters dont seem to see them or pick up on them. these 3 we had here so far this year,a couple didnt even seem to be worthy to have a name. for they were so lopsided and sick looking. i think that sometimes they give a storm a name, no matter how sick it looks just to meet what the pros say how many named storms they gonna have.

i dont think its gonna make up into anything. because just like the others before it, its being sheared apart by something. we prolly gonna have a not so busy season because these upper lows and other shear makers around.
