Scary Quiet...Worldwide

As we reach Mid-August, I cannot recall a quieter tropical season WORLDWIDE. If it's quiet in one basin, it's usually active in another. There is no Tropical Storm/Hurricane/Typhoon activity anywhere on the Planet this afternoon. My gut tells me it'll finally kick in after August 20th, but that only leaves us with 6+ weeks to worry about a major hurricane that would require evacuation. Remember, only once have we had a major hurricane in Ocotber (1893) hit Louisiana. Each day it stays quiet brings us closer to the time of year where most storms recurve away from us. With such worldwide warmth due to the faded El Nino, I would not be surprised to see a very active October into November for the Caribbean, Florida and up the East Coast. Hopefully the Westerlies will have arrived by then to keep us safe? Stay tuned.

In the short term, our atmosphere remains very moist, but the swirl that was TD 5 is in
AL/GA. IF it starts to sink southward and than back to the west, we'll be on the drier side of it for Sunday into Monday. Tuesday thru Thursday could be back to swamp city with more Flash Flood Watches.

If you had to make a long term guess-cast, will we get cool fronts in late September or might we see summer conditions into November this year?

Last year was oppressive into late October yet the year Gustav hit, we had cool fronts in September.

The good ole Cheniere Caminada Hurricane of 1893.

I read somewhere that the inactive season may be due (indirectly) to a frozen jet stream that has allowed a massive amount of heat to move north, first in the northeastern US, and now in central Russia.

LD funny you mention that in the TP today there was a story about just that and linking it to...of course...global warming!!!

Next in the paper was a temperature graphic showing how many days our high temperature has gone above our average, while not saying a word, they spoke loud and clear...

Funny though not one mention of why the tropic are so quiet globally....

So now global warming is linked to FEWER hurricanes? Isn't that convenient......

Global Warming is a government myth like cigarettes causing cancer and drinking causes more accidents when driving. When will the lies to change our lifestyles end? LOL
