TD 5...Stick a Fork in Her !

Just like Bonnie last month, too much wind shear killed any chances for TD 5 from becoming TS Danielle. That doesn't mean we won't get much rain from it as the remnant low will move over us by Dawn and we'll be on the wet side during the day Thursday. Friday will be a little drier and even fewer storms Sat-Sunday. That means highs will return to the mid-upper 90s.

The tropics worldwide are unusually quiet tonight. The experts are scrambling to figure out why. Many of them are warning that the the most active part of the season is August 15 thru Oct. 10th. For us, once into October it is rare for a MAJOR hurricane to cross the LA. coast. Only once (1893) did that happen in the past 150 years and that was the 1st week. Yea, I remember Juan in late Oct. 1985, but he was only a Cat. 1. Right now I see the quiet trend staying in place for another 7-10 days before the tropics ramp up activity after Aug. 20th. Stay tuned!

Thanks for keeping us up to date.

I remember reading before the season started that wind shear wouldn't be as prevalent and that's why everyone was predicting such a busy season.

If you have time, I'd love to hear you speak about why they thought the shear wouldn't be in the gulf this yearand why it suddenly is.

Well, let's just hope all of our tropical depressions, storms, etc. are like Bonnie and TD#5. We can live with the rain and minimal wind. It really did cool things off yesterday and again this morning. Now, only 11 more weeks till the end of October. I can smell the fireplaces now!!! Cruise count down....16 days....

I think a remnant of Jim Cantore was seen near Buras.
