Shary is "On Deck"...Tomas Right Behind?

NHC indicates tonight we could have our 18th named storm shortly...way out in the Atlantic. In fact, there are 3 areas that could become storms during the next several days. Since they are far from us and we have more cold fronts coming, the only affect will be on the total number of storms that form this year. Remember NOAA predicted 14-23 total storms. My guess is we'll end up nearer the 23. I keep hearing how active a season it's been. Since no hurricane threatened the U. S., I'd say those earlier predictions, though accurate, proved meaningless. Until they can predict WHERE storms will go, those total numbers have little value for most of us.

A front will sweep thru before noon time on Thursday taking the muggies with it. The good feel air will mean cooler nights and delightful days for Friday-Sunday. Next week will get even colder as we begin November. Snow for Christmas? Stay tuned !

"Well NOAA came out with their Hurricane forecast for 2010 and issued an unbelieveable range of between 14 & 23 named storms. Are you kidding me?" NHC nails the prediction and now you say it's all meaningless?

"With these numbers, this will be a real opportunity to see if these forecasters really have any skill at long range. Unlike the unverifiable computer model predictions about Global Warming 50-100 years out, this hurricane forecast will be verifiable come November. My belief is the number of storms will be at the lower end(14), which would make it just an average season. Stay tuned."

"Not surprisingly Dr. Gray's team upped their number of named storms in their June update today. They now say 18 storms will form with 10 becoming hurricanes and 5 of those reaching Cat. 3 or stronger. One of the things I like about these Hurricane "Forecasts" is that we can verify them in 6 months, unlike the Global Warming Alarmist's predictions of 50-100 years out. I'll say this, if come November we end up with single digit storm numbers (only one group out of Houston says that), the credibility of these seasonal forecasts will be questioned as to their real value." But you are still questioning their real value?

We need some snow so the Saints can go back to the Superbowl..Remember the old saying, when hell freezes over...well, it's been pretty hot here this summer so we'll just have to see what the winter brings. Who wouldn't like a nice white xmas again???
