Sticking to Weather...Leaving Sports Alone...

Hard to refocus after a loss...but we must. We have had not only 13 days without rain, but it has been 13 days without any clouds! I just don't remember ever having that long a time without some kind (high cirrus) of clouds. That should change on Monday with even a few showers possible(not likely) late Tuesday as a weak front moves thru. Another stronger surge of cooler air arrives by Friday with even colder air coming for next week. As I mentioned 2 weeks ago, our hurricane season is over. With more east coast troughs developing during the next 2 weeks, we'll continue to be blocked from any tropical systems. None of the long range models develops anything in the Gulf.

The next name storm (Paula) could form this week in the Western Caribbean giving Central America another heavy rain event. Still quiet across the tropical Pacific. One of their least active ever storm seasons. Some "experts" are saying a brutal winter may be coming for much of the U.S. and Europe. Since I haven't seen any squirrels in weeks, maybe something IS up.

Talking about hurricane season predictions the whole key imho is in what kind of repeating pattern of tracks that storms take seems to develop. It seems to be that every year there is some different sort of pattern of which areas storms are developing and/or tracking toward. For example, in 2005 and again in 2008 more than one storm made landfall around the central gulf region. In 2004 three storms made landfall in south Florida. For this year how many storms developed in the far eastern Atlantic but took such tracks that kept them out at sea and never made near the U.S.? Only one storm IIRC threatened the U.S. east coast. If/when the experts can accurately predict the repeating pattern of tracks then that would be something.
