Rain leaving, Big Chill Coming...

Our 2 days rain totals in most areas exceeded our rainfall for the past 2 months! We had been very dry & this was a good, soaking rain spread over several hours. But change is coming in a big way as a deepening east coast trough will drag down the coldest air of the season to the Gulf Coast. Lows will be in the 30s N-Shore Friday morning, 40s S-Shore with near freezing both Sat-Sun on the NS. Highs on Friday will struggle to get out of the 50s with a slow warm up beginning late Saturday into early next week. After tonight's showers, no rain is likely for the next 5-7 days.

Down in the Caribbean, Tomas has again become a Tropical Storm. My friend and former intern Eric Blake at NHC says "forecasting Tomas has been a fool's task" ! Translation...the models have not been able to handle either the track nor the intensity so far. Some storms are well behaved. Tomas was earlier, but he hasn't been for the past 2 days. Fortunately, he's not our storm to worry about. Haiti could suffer another major rainstorm that could take more lives as many families still live in tents. Prayers are needed along with more foreign aid. It's a sad story to watch.
