Once again parts of Louisiana will deal with frozen precipitation, but unlike last week when it was many sleet & freezing rain, this round will be SNOW. As always, the big question is how far south will the rain/snow line get? Most computer models keep it all rain here, except our VIPIR run tonight keeps bringing that line into south Louisiana. My experience has shown me most computer models do not handle real cold arctic air masses very well. I don't want to hype the possibility that we all could see some snow Thursday morning, but I want you to keep up on the forecast tomorrow in case the cold air gets here sooner than the NWS is predicting. Tonight Winter Storm Warnings are up for north LA where 2-4" are likely. We'll be dry until later in the afternoon when some showers arrive and increase in number by dark. Most of the rain will be moving away after midnight when the real cold air surges in. Not expecting much more than some flurries early on Thursday, but that doesn't happen too often down here. Since a warm up is coming for the weekend, this will likely be the last chance for any snow here til next winter season. Stay tuned !
P.S. No need to buy bread or milk...unless you're running low!

Hey Bob, I was reading the 9:41pm NWS forecast discussion for Dallas/Fort Worth area and they said the front was running ahead of schedule by a few hours... they actually has to adjust the temps DOWN for tomorrow. I'm guessing this quicker move of arctic MIGHT actually increase our chances of quicker change over to snow Wednesday PM/Thursday AM? whatcha think about that?

Looks like vipir is wrong again... As usual..
The more I look at these maps, the more I think we will miss the winter precipation again. Looks like everything will be north of Alexandria. Anyone have any other thoughts on this....By the wee hours of Thursday morning, all of the precip will be to our east...
I guess we will have to wait till next year!
Tis,Tis Anonymous. Obviously you did not watch the 9 PM Weather on FOX 8 last night. VIPIR had the rain/snow line north of MCB, BUT that model said there may be some "flurries" (even said that on a special graphic Kim Vaughn made) between 4 AM & 9 AM Thursday morning. Go look at the 1 PM east Texas observations. Several stations are report SNOW FLURRIES just west of Houston. Don't dump on VIPIR yet. You may wake up to a few flurries just as VIPIR predicted.
Thanks for taking the time to update us anonymous folks...Thanks
Bob!
Where is the low developing? Looks to be more in line what viper ran last night. Is that correct?
I moved up to Arkansas near Fort Smith last fall. We've had snow three times, this one today my area received six inches. I lived in Laplace and all my life I wished for snow, even a flake. It is beautiful but driving in it is not for me. Thank goodness I'm retired. I miss Bob Breck and his weather. The guys up here are OK but no comparison to Bob. For the first times in my 65 years I'm seeing real snow.
Temperatres have dropped in the Abita Springs area in the last 30 minutes about 3 degrees... Is that to be expected this earlier on? (that is temperatures starting to drop)
Woo hoooooo
