Flood Hundreds,Save Hundreds of Thousands...

I'm always amazed the way some people think. Tonight it was announced that parts of Baton Rouge will flood, including some of the LSU Campus, unless the Morganza Spillway is opened. That seems a common sense move to me...flood a few to save many more. That's what the Spillways were designed and built for...to protect the major population centers. But the Facebook chatter began immediately..."let LSU flood..." All I could think of...must be some Tulane supporters!

What do you think? What are the alternatives? Take a chance and hope the crest stays below the levees and no ship looses its steering causing a breach like in Katrina? I side with the Corps. Open the Morganza.

Still no rain in our forecast. Now we're flirting with near record warmth. Oh my !

WOW if they opened the spillway and LSA flooded as a result that would be pretty unprecedented.

What is LSA Anonymous? Did you mean LSU????

I feel like we restrict the river too much as is. You got to give it a little room to breathe.

With all these levees, the great natural water patterns that created and maintained our state are cut off and we're turning Plaquemine's into a 2nd Florida peninsula.

Bob:
River is suppose to crest here in New Orleans on Thursday. Any worries about levee breaches or toppling here in the greater New Orleans area or surround communities....Poor people in Memphis. Sure don't want to see that kind of flooding here in the Big Easy again so soon after Katrina. That should be a once in a 100 year flood.
